What readers say about APO

Australian Policy Online's services are highly valued by our readers who are from many sectors including government, education, media, NGOs and charities, corporations and more. Here is what some readers have told us - let us know what you think...

I am a big fan of APO and use it as a measure of research impact for a fast moving research topic, adaptation to climate change. With so many decision makers looking for credible information going to APO, I see inclusion of new research reports on your site as a sign that they may well be read by the policy audience. At the same time being within the references of documents on your site can demonstrate that our research is having an impact on policy development.

Liese Coulter, Knowledge Communication Manager, National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility, Griffith University

Unmissable. The only must-read policy site in Australia and one of the best in the (English-speaking) world.

David Owen, Policy Officer, Advocacy Tasmania Inc.

I find APO very valuable. There are few other sites which provides such regular up to date, intellectually solid information in such an easily accessible way.

Andrew Bartlett, Research Fellow, Migration Law Program, ANU

APO is the best newsletter I have subscribed to. It is the only newsletter I receive that I would be prepared to pay a subscription fee to continue accessing the information.

Amanda Thomas, Director Research and Policy, Transport and Logistics Industry Skills Council

The APO newsletter is an invaluable tool in keeping abreast of the many challenging policy issues facing us in today's world, whether as individuals, a community or as a nation.

I used APO to keep up-to-date about what's going in health and social policy. It is so informative, valuable, and unique in the Australian policy field. Thank you!

Jessica Malone, Policy Officer, Women's Health Victoria

I find the APO website an excellent source and first stop when looking for up to date information on a variety of topics not just for work but also with my Masters study. It is up to date, relevant and user friendly.

I am a big fan of APO. It is a one-stop-shop for all the major reports and research nationally and I know that I can rely on you to pick up the key releases each week. I receive lots of email alerts, but APO is one of the few I make sure I always read!

I am a private person who tries to advocate for the older seriously mentally ill (SMI; those suffering schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, severe clinical depression). The most vulnerable and neglected Australians are a majority of the indigenous people and the seriously mentally ill; there are some 600,000 of the latter, only 50% of whom receive any specialist psychiatric care.

I thank your web site for all the help I’ve received for my submissions, letters to editors, members of Parliament et al. Your headings for health and indigenous population are the sections of most of interest for me. I sincerely hope you can continue with your weekly report. You give us the reports; it’s up to us to run with them.

Thank you for an outstanding site. I access it at least once a week and often more. I am the Convenor of the national Sustainable Economic Growth for Regional Australia (SEGRA) conference and it is great for regional Australia to so easily be able to tap into key thinking and expertise from across Australia. The format of expert papers, government policy and professional commentary is excellent. For me the most valuable aspect of the site is its high level content focus rather than opinion focus.

Kate Charters, SEGRA

Just a note to say that APO’s work is appreciated. I’m a journalist reporting on tertiary education, and APO is a fantastic source of quality research on relevant policy issues. The only downside is that we don’t have the time or space to do justice to it all.

John Ross, Journalist, Campus Review

I get great value out of your site for my work.

Suzanne Wilkinson, Principal Adviser, Student Equity & Educational Partnerships, Griffith University

We subscribe to APO Weekly Briefing - it is a fantastic service - thank you.

Sue Garner, Librarian, Information Services, Australian Electoral Commission

APO provides me with a weekly digest of government reports covering policy and programs. It's a useful tool to skim to keep up to date on government policy and to read in more depth in areas of specific interest.

If you're not signed up already, this APO weekly e-newsletter is worth getting - if a little distracting at times ;-)

Angela Zivkovic, Workforce Development Manager, Local Government Managers Australia National

By the way, I love APO – would be lost without it.
