Terrorism and the economy

04 October 2010Loretta Napoleoni traces the link between the finances of the war on terror and the global economic crisis, finding connections from Dubai to London to Las Vegas that politicians and the media have at best ignored. Terrorists, she says, spend their days searching for money because terrorism is a very expensive business. The decisions and the political and ideological lines are decided by a very small group of people, and these are the leaders. All the rest are like soldiers, they do exactly what they're told to do.

In May 2011 the Federal Government announced that the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) would commence operations from 1 July 2012 and that it would initially be responsible for determining the legal status of groups seeking charitable, public benevolent institution, and other not-for-profit (NFP) benefits on behalf of all Commonwealth agencies.
