Description

Google and Facebook are to be investigated by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission after a deal struck between the Federal Government and crossbench Senator Nick Xenophon.

The ACCC will examine the impact of the companies on the Australian media landscape.

Thomas Oriti speaks with former ABC journalist, Quentin Dempster, who says that the government should implement a local content quota, similar to the quota set at the start of free-to-air television; and that Australia should follow Europe's lead and legislate for a local content fund, paid for by the internet giants.
