National Indigenous Education and Boarding Symposium

Tuesday, March 27, 2018 (All day) to Wednesday, March 28, 2018 (All day)
The Canberra Rex Hotel
150 Northbourne Ave
Canberra City ACT

This is a must attend event for school Principals, Heads of Boarding, policy makers, educators and researchers.

The future of Indigenous education and boarding is being determined now. This is your opportunity to participate in the process.

The Indigenous education and boarding sector has come under great scrutiny over the past year. Over the summer three reports were released that will have a significant impact on the providers of education, boarding, and welfare for Indigenous students, particularly those who study away from their families and communities.

These reports are:

  • The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse
  • The power of education: From surviving to thriving Educational opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students - HoRSCIA Report
  • Study Away Review

This national symposium will inform how we respond to the findings and recommendations in these reports as schools, as boarding providers, as policy makers and will ultimately impact on the educational outcomes for Indigenous students.
