Great art for everyone: a consultation on self-assessment and peer review

18 Nov 2008

Arts Council England is planning to introduce new processes of self-assessment and peer review for their regularly funded organisations. The development and introduction of these processes will be a major element in their ambition to strengthen relationships with regularly funded organisations in order to reinforce the importance of artistic excellence at the heart of everything they do. Through this consultation, the Council wants to work with the arts sector, and with other funders and their broader set of stakeholders, to develop these processes. The aim of this consultation is to consider some of the principles involved in self-assessment and peer review, give an indication of how the Arts Council's thinking is developing in some of these areas and get a clearer picture of the views of stakeholders, in particular arts organisations themselves. They expect the responses to this consultation to inform their thinking, generate new ideas and identify areas which need further work.
