The subscription television industry recorded a 43 per cent increase in expenditure on Australian drama programs in 2006-07, with expenditure increasing from $18.41 million in 2005-06 to $26.44 million in 2006-07. Results releasedin March by the Australian Communications and Media Authority show that 2006-07 expenditure on eligible Australian and New Zealand drama programs exceeded the 10 per cent obligation under the subscription television new eligible drama expenditure scheme set out in Part 7 of the Broadcasting Services Act 1992 (BSA).
