Submission to the Inquiry into Broadcasting Services Amendment (Media Ownership) Bill 2006 and related bills

29 Sep 2006
Description

The CLC argues that the 5/4 voices test in the new legislation is a rigid and blunt framework. Imposing it on top of a rapidly changing environment does not adequately recognize the importance of content, the key issue in protecting the interests of media consuming Australians. It recommends that the government waits until the digital roll-out takes place before reforming ownership laws.
