Cultural diversity and child protection

12 Jul 2012
Description

This paper is the first publication of its kind to review the available research literature on CALD and refugee families in the Australian Child Protection System (CPS). Looking into the needs of migrants and refugees who settle in Australia.
The knowledge from multicultural policies and refugee sector has not necessarily been incorporated into child protection practice, policy frameworks and legislation.
As a consequence there has been a significant gap in the research and practice knowledge in addressing and recognising the needs of families from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and refugee backgrounds (with the exception of NSW Department of Family and Community Services).
