Description

This chapter from the publication Growing Up in Australia: The Longitudinal Study of Australian Children, illustrates correlations between childhood obesity, education and socio-economic backgrounds within Australia.
It has long been recognised that there is an inverse relationship between socio-economic status and overweight/obesity in adult women, and lower ranked occupations and lower education are linked to greater weight gain in both men and women. However, most studies have been cross-sectional, with prospective studies of children being particularly limited.
