Student mental health and wellbeing

1 Jul 2010
Description

This document has been designed as a resource to outline the roles and responsibilities of school staff, relevant government departments and regional management to foster the provision of high quality mental health support.

This framework is based on the evidence that children and young people who have high levels of social and emotional wellbeing are more likely to attend school regularly and remain engage in their learning.
Further to this it articulates DECS committment to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people by creating safe, supportive, respectful and engaging learning communities where children and young people can develop positive life skills and values, establish and sustain meaningful and productive relationships and be resilient and resourceful in dealing with stress and adversity.
