Submission

Sedition law reform

27 Apr 2006
Description

Modernising sedition offences creates the risk that prosecutors may seek to use them more often, in the belief that the new offences are better adapted to modern conditions and thus more legitimate. In this submission to the current inquiry into the laws, Ben Saul argues that a better approach is to abandon old-fashioned security offences altogether in favour of using the ordinary criminal law.
