My city: the people’s verdict 2013

3 Mar 2014
Description

In 2010, the Property Council of Australia approached Auspoll with a desire to better understand the attitudes that Australians have towards the cities in which they live.
In particular, the Property Council was interested in measuring the “liveability” of Australia's capital cities from the perspective of people who live in them. They were also interested in understanding the community’s attitudes to:

► Various options for housing a growing population;

► The role of the Federal Government in managing population growth and developing Australia’s cities; and

► The performance of State Governments in planning and managing urban growth.

2013 marks the fourth iteration of the liveability index following previous studies in 2012, 2011 and 2010. This ongoing research project aims to track changes in the liveability of Australian cities through time as well as the performance of Federal and State governments in ensuring our cities are good places in which to live.

The original index in 2010 covered Australia’s 8 capital cities, in 2011 Newcastle and Wollongong were added.
