This document is a a review of the communication components of Australian and overseas public education and social marketing campaigns aimed at reducing violence against women. It focuses on campaigns conducted since 1995 that included a primary objective of influencing 'community attitudes' towards violence against women. The review aims to inform and stimulate thinking on a range of possible campaigns and good practice guidelines.This review of attempts to influence community attitudes on violence against women via communication and social marketing activity is a key component of the project development stage of the VicHealth Community Attitudes Survey Project: Specifically, this document is a report on a review of the communication components of Australian and overseas public education / social marketing campaigns aimed at reducing violence against women. It focuses on campaigns conducted since 1995 that included a primary objective of influencing 'community attitudes' towards violence against women. The purpose of this review was to inform and stimulate thinking on the range of possible types of campaigns and good practice guidelines for communication components of social marketing/public education campaigns in this field.
