Family relationship centres: why we don’t need them

As part of a major overhaul of the Family Law Act, the federal government plans to spend $200 million establishing a network of Family Relationship Centres across the country. Arti Sharma argues that the centres won’t work and aren’t needed by 95 per cent of separating couples. The centres are a waste of taxpayers’ money – the government is effectively nationalising a voluntary service that already works well.
