Description

There is still a perception among a large proportion of the sample that wealthy people and big business get away with paying less tax than they should, according to the latest edition of this annual survey, which monitors community perceptions of the Tax Office, taxes and the revenue system and provides feedback on perceived performance and guide future initiatives.

The specific purpose of the Community Perceptions Survey is to:

• monitor community perceptions of the Tax Office, its administration of the tax system and the service it provides

• provide intelligence and data for Tax Office reporting

• monitor community perceptions on compliance issues, and

• monitor community perceptions on other specific issues such as the GST and superannuation.
