The Australian Democrats pride themselves on being a really democratic party. But can they continue to allow all rank and file members to influence policy-making? Probably not. Zareh Ghazarian argues that the Democrats need a new way to engage party members that avoids the long delays of current methods without betraying their participatory traditions.
