Improving occupational health and safety information for immigrant workers in NSW

4 Sep 2002
Description

This working paper examines how NSW immigrant workers with limited English receive information about OH&S at work.

In high immigrant density workplaces, employers typically rely on informal language buddying to communicate, resulting in communication that is haphazard in quality and one-way. Often where information was provided , it focused on accident avoidance rather than enlisting employees in a comprehensive OH&S management system.
