The theme for the 2017 CREATE Foundation Conference is all about creating positive change to improve the lives of children and young people in care. The Conference will be held at the newly built International Convention Centre, Sydney from the 10th to 12th August 2017 and is open to all children and young people with a care experience in Australia. The Conference will also be open to and appealing to carers, government officials and those working in the sector.
CREATE’s Conferences are unique, engaging, informative and fun! Our Conference is attended by young people, carers, academics and key decision makers. We are calling for presentations that focus on our key theme, Voices in Action: empowering young people for positive change, and are able to engage, connect or interact with this broad audience. We believe that presenting at a CREATE Conference should be a rewarding for everyone and we encourage innovation and creativity within the methods of presentation.
Presenters will be delivering their message to audiences that include young people who have a care experience, carers (both foster and kinship), decision makers who frame systems and researchers. CREATE’s diverse conference attendees allow a variety of opportunities to be offered and we encourage you to develop interactive, interesting and engaging presentations that can cater to this broad audience.
We invite presenters to submit their abstracts that showcase where children and young people’s voices are actively used to change things for the better. CREATE is looking forward to receiving presentations that highlight children and young people’s participation in decision making, positive change and empowerment. This can be from a practice, academic or lived experience – thinking outside the box is encouraged.
