Description

A new term has entered the lexicon—'alternative facts'.

It was used by Donald Trump's adviser Kellyanne Conway to defend those claims by the administration that the crowds at Trump's inauguration last month were bigger than Barack Obama's in 2008.

Media organisations have loudly and regularly called out US President Donald Trump for falsehoods over the last 18 months.

Facts have never been under such sustained attack—and into this environment, the ABC, in partnership with RMIT University in Melbourne, is reopening the ABC Fact Check unit.
