The experience of mortgage distress in Sydney's geographical hot spots ONLINE SURVEY

24 June 2009This project aims to explore the mortgage process from the perspective of the borrower and the processes that lead to mortgage distress even before falling in arrears.

The research design involves two parts: a self‐administered survey delivered on‐line and by mail (paper questionnaire) and in‐depth interviews. The survey is anonymous and the interviews are voluntary and confidential. The ‘Mortgage Survey’ aims to gather general context information to generate a snapshot of the main issues and be able to draw comparative aspects for analysis and discussion. We expect to recruit 200 participants who have experienced mortgage distress, who have or had a residential property situated in Greater Western Sydney. We invite them to complete the 10‐minute on‐line (or paper) survey.
