Assessing the impact of NCVER's research

14 August 2009This study examines where and how NCVER's research has influenced vocational education and training (VET) policy and practice.

A model for assessing research impact was developed and case studies of impact across three research projects and one research theme were undertaken. While not a straightforward exercise, this study used quantitative and qualitative measures to identify examples of where research has made a difference across the four categories of knowledge production, capacity building, informing policy and informing practice. The findings have implications for practices that will further enhance the influence research has on policy and practice, applicable to both NCVER's own continuous improvement and to the social science research community in general.
