China's maritime strategic agenda

03 May 2010Following recent reports that China has embarked upon a 'far sea defence', this paper explores the central tenets of China's maritime security agenda. Rahman argues that bluewater capabilities are not the main focus for China’s naval development; rather the semi-enclosed and other narrow seas of East Asia are. But even those preoccupations pose direct challenges to the regional security order.

In May 2011 the Federal Government announced that the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) would commence operations from 1 July 2012 and that it would initially be responsible for determining the legal status of groups seeking charitable, public benevolent institution, and other not-for-profit (NFP) benefits on behalf of all Commonwealth agencies.
