Engaging young people in volunteering: what works in Tasmania

27 May 2011Complementing VT’s State of Volunteering: Tasmania 2010, the report offers a spotlight on what works in youth volunteering in Tasmania.

The report provides valuable evidence of what it takes to cultivate interest in volunteering among young Tasmanians, how to create roles that are appropriate for young people, and the characteristics for successful leadership in youth volunteering.

The report will be a key resource for volunteer-involving organisations in tailoring processes to engage young people in volunteering.

In May 2011 the Federal Government announced that the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) would commence operations from 1 July 2012 and that it would initially be responsible for determining the legal status of groups seeking charitable, public benevolent institution, and other not-for-profit (NFP) benefits on behalf of all Commonwealth agencies.
