| India's clean revolution |
28 March 2011The Indian economy, driven by domestic consumption, is the eleventh largest in the world by nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the fourth largest by purchasing power parity, growing at around 9% per annum. However, the country is currently faced with enormous growth and development pressures. It must meet the needs of an enormous population and help many millions out of poverty. It must provide energy to the large part of the country that still remains off-grid. And it must satisfy the increasing demand for goods and services, and above all for energy, of the nearly 100 million people that are expected to enter the 'middle class' bracket by 2030.
