International broadcasting and its contribution to public diplomacy

17 September 2010Examines the role of government-funded international broadcasters in supporting their nations’ public diplomacy efforts, and draws some conclusions for an effective international broadcasting future for Australia.

The paper is the result of research commissioned by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. It is intended as a starting point to stimulate a broader debate about Australia’s international broadcasters – the Australia Network and Radio Australia – and their role in furthering Australia’s public diplomacy and supporting the nation’s foreign policy goals.
