Primary health care reform in Australia

01 September 2009This report provides background to the Draft National Primary Health Care Strategy as well as providing evidence to support future investment in, and reform of, the primary health care system.

The report also examines key issues that were raised under the ten individual Elements of the National Primary Health Care Strategy discussion paper, Towards a National Primary Health Care Strategy, which was publicly released on 30 October 2008.

Can an older mother enjoy motherhood with meaningful paid work sidelined while her children are young? Or pay the price of juggling if both are to take centre stage? What is it like to contemplate being in your fifties or sixties and caring for a teenager when your friends and family who started earlier are retiring and leading ‘the good life'?

These are hard questions with no easy answers that Marie Roberts, a psychologist and doctoral student at Swinburne University, is exploring in her research into delayed motherhood.

Alzheimer’s Australia is looking for individuals with dementia and family carers who are interested in being actively involved in all stages of dementia research as part of the Consumer Dementia Research Network.  Members of the network will be involved in setting funding priorities, monitoring projects and communicating findings.
