Rowville rail study

9 March 2012

The draft report is a culmination of a series of investigations by the study team and aims to provide the most comprehensive understanding and in-depth analysis undertaken into building a rail line to Rowville.

This report summarises the work of the first stage of the Rowville Rail Study. The first stage of the study has investigated the feasibility of a suburban rail line from Huntingdale to Rowville in the Wellington Road corridor.

The study is a result of an election commitment by the Baillieu Government. Objectives of the study include:

  • ‘Understanding future patronage demand in Monash and Knox in the medium and long term
  • Exploring improved integrated transport and land use opportunities
  • Providing a concept for the proposed Rowville railway line interfacing with the existing Dandenong railway line at Huntingdale railway station.’
