13 September 2010ACT Chief Minister and Minister for the Arts Jon Stanhope discusses the ACT Government's Percent-For-Art scheme at a public lecture at The Australian National University on 2 September 2010.

Mr Stanhope has been a strong and vocal advocate of the importance of public art in the ACT. Mr Stanhope discusses the importance of public art in our streetscapes and city places, its contribution to the cultural life of our community and the challenges of making a record investment in public art in the Territory.

Mr Stanhope is also the Minister for Transport, Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, Minister for Business and Economic Development, Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs.

He was first elected to the ACT Legislative assembly in 1998 as member for Ginnindera. Prior to entering the ACT Legislative Assembly, Mr Stanhope worked as senior advisor and chief of staff to the Attorney-General. He has also worked advising former Labor leader Kim Beazley and as secretary of the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs. Mr Stanhope has a Bachelor of Laws from ANU.
