18 November 2010Last year there were over 600,000 international students in Australia, but the sector is now in crisis due to the series of incidents of violence against Indian students as well as the major changes to Australia's migration laws and the growing strength of the Australian dollar. Australia is the only developed nation that now has falling numbers of international students. Professor Simon Marginson (Higher Education, University of Melbourne) speaks to SlowTV's Nick Feik about the impact this will have on a higher education system that has come to rely heavily on its international student income. The online survey is open to anyone who has used WHV's services, resources, or websites in the past 12 months. It covers: WHV publications, professional training, The Index database of gendered statistics, WHV Clearinghouse, BreaCan Service (supporting people diagnosed with breast or gynaecological cancer), capacity building, member services, and more.

In May 2011 the Federal Government announced that the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) would commence operations from 1 July 2012 and that it would initially be responsible for determining the legal status of groups seeking charitable, public benevolent institution, and other not-for-profit (NFP) benefits on behalf of all Commonwealth agencies.
