21 May 2009This Australian Government site brings together resources from a range of departments covering the issue of social inclusion. To be socially included, all Australians must be given the opportunity to:
* secure a job;
* access services;
* connect with family, friends, work, personal interests and local community;
* deal with personal crisis; and
* have their voices heard.
Promoting social inclusion requires a new approach to developing and implementing policy and programs. This new approach requires strong partnerships between all levels of government, business and community organisations to address economic and social disadvantage in Australia.
Many Australian Government departments are involved in the social inclusion agenda, and a number of them have established Social Inclusion Units to focus on this priority.
