Helena started her career as a research psychologist, and worked in market research, educational research and then general practice research. Her PhD is in general practice and she now has about 37 years experience in this field. She is the Director of the Family Medicine Research Centre, School of Public Health, University of Sydney, which designed, established, and conducts BEACH program, the continuous national study of general practice clinical activity in Australia. Helena has been a member of the International Classification Committee of the World Organisation of Family Doctors for almost 30 years, and the Centre is responsible for Australia distribution of, and education on, The International Classification of Primary Care, on behalf of Wonca. The Centre is also involved in international work on th application of SNOMED-CT in general practice. Dr Britt has authored more than 200 published journal articles, and 37 books on general practice clinical activity,including adverse patient events, multimorbidity, disease prevalence primary care clinical terminology and classification, and a wide range of other topics.
