Diversity: the fibre of a vibrant rural town in Western Australia: Nannup

1 Jan 2000
Description

The article focuses on an ethnographic study on the rural town of Nannup in Western Australia. The three broad phases of interaction and development of the rural town were discussed such as the confrontation of differences during 1970s, mutual beneficial encounters in the 1980s and synergistic encounters in the 1990s. The alternative lifestylers and traditional landholders and townsfolk of Nannup has been differentiated. One alternative lifestyler explained that he was shocked when he came to the place because people were wearing sarongs and going around on a horse and cart during the 1960s.
