1 Jan 2005
Description

In the small community of Tara in Queensland, years of disadvantage and the negative impacts of rural residential subdivision development have been turned around. This paper discusses the Tara Engagement Model, an example of effective place based collaboration between community and government. The model used evidence based practice and key socially conducive values or practice principles, including promotion of local leadership, using non blame as an operating principle, and running parallel consultation and capacity building processes.
