Australia needs a powerful integrity commission: Transparency International Australia chair

The new chair of Transparency International Australia, Fiona McLeod SC, says staggering numbers of Australians report witnessing public officials engaging in corruption, and having unexplained income.

Similarly staggering, she says, is the proportion of Australians surveyed who report distrust in political institutions.

Fiona McLeod is a previous president of the Law Council of Australia, and she says the evidence is clear that Australia needs a national integrity commission with coercive powers.
