Fourth action plan: National plan to reduce violence against women and their children 2010-2022

Family violence Violence against women Violence prevention Victims of family violence Child welfare Australia

On Friday 9 August 2019, the Council of Australian Governments endorsed the Fourth Action Plan of the National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010-2022, agreeing on five national priorities to reduce family, domestic and sexual violence.

The Fourth Action Plan is informed by stakeholder feedback from over 600 individuals and 400 organisations, and evidence and data gathered through the Third Action Plan. The Fourth Action Plan will reflect and build on the outcomes of the First, Second and Third Action Plans to create lasting change. Between July and October 2018, the Department and its state and territory counterparts held 30 consultations to inform the development of the Fourth Action Plan.

This included the Council of Australian Governments’ (COAG) National Summit on Reducing Violence against Women, held on 2 - 3 October 2018, which was attended by over 100 community leaders and key stakeholders.

This action plan is written for governments, policy makers, specialist organisations and members of the community sector. It provides people working in support services or individuals affected by domestic, family and sexual violence with an overview of the national policy response to reduce violence against women and their children.
