Workplace bullying and harassment causes serious harm to psychological health and organisational processes (Bond, Tuckey, & Dollard, 2010). In order to strategically reduce costly incidences of these work-related psychosocial risks it is imperative to consider representative and rigorous empirical evidence acquired through a national surveillance system.

The Australian Workplace Barometer (AWB) is the nation’s leading method of psychosocial surveillance, designed to obtain population-based data regarding work-related issues across states and territories, industries and time-frames. As a result AWB findings are empirically sound and regarded as best practice evidence for any national, state, organisational or industry initiative targeted at protecting worker health. A central objective of the AWB is to ascertain national prevalence data and provide insight into psychosocial risks, and further identify high-risk industries through the process of bench-marking.

The purpose of this report is to provide key findings relevant to workplace bullying based on data obtained from all Australian states and territories in the year 2014/2015 (from Potter, Dollard, & Tuckey, 2014).
