Indonesia: how GAM won in Aceh

When local elections were held in Aceh on 11 December 2006, conventional wisdom was that candidates from the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) would not do well. But GAM won overwhelmingly, in what an analyst called "a perfect storm between the fallout from the peace accord and the failure of political parties to understand the changing times".
