Workshop: Creating, capturing and communicating research impact

Wednesday, February 5, 2020 - 11:00 to 17:00
Victory Offices, Pier 1 Training Room
Barangaroo NSW
Australia
Description

This open workshop will introduce you to the fundamentals of research impact and help you understand what it is, how you can plan for it, and how to easily create more opportunities to take your research to the next level. This workshop will give you the skill and tools to capture meaningful information to use when writing about your impact. In addition, we will show you how to articulate your impact in a clear, logical and convincing way.

More and more grant applications are requiring research impact and associated elements as part of the application. Examples include:

  • NHMRC - Ideas Grants assess your outputs, outcomes and impact
  • NHMRC - Synergy and Investigator Grants want an impact case study for your track record
  • ARC - Discovery Grants ask you to write about the economic, commercial, environmental, social or cultural benefits of your research

This workshop is suitable for researchers, research support personnel, and anyone wanting to better understand research impact and how to map it prospectively and communicate it retrospectively. Our clients had a 29% success rate in the 2019 NHMRC Investigator Grant round following our work on their applications. We have been living and breathing research impact since 2014 and understand the complexities and stress this puts on to the researcher. Let us help you conquer this successfully.
