Evaluation of YourPlay: final report 3.68 MB
Description

In 2010, the Victorian Government set a timeframe for introducing pre‑commitment technology on electronic gaming machines across the state. The pre‑commitment scheme is voluntary for players to use but mandatory for gaming venues across Victoria. The YourPlay scheme was successfully launched on 1 December 2015. The current monitoring licence was amended to include pre-commitment. It expires in 2027.

In February 2020, the Victorian Minister for Gaming and Liquor Regulation released this evaluation report on YourPlay, accepting all 23 recommendations to strengthen Victoria’s voluntary pre-commitment scheme.

The report shows many of the users have experienced benefits from YourPlay, but the scheme could be improved with better communications, promotion and data reporting, increased staff training and stronger regulations.

The Department of Justice and Community Safety will consult with the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation and the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation to implement these recommendations.
