Description

The Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services (KAMS) COVID-19 Toolkit has been developed to assist KAMS remote clinics, Kimberley Renal Services and Headspace Broome in planning and responding to the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. This toolkit will be updated as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve.

Key Findings:

  • At the time of writing, discussions are currently underway with allied health providers in Broome to arrange ongoing follow up via telehealth. Clear referral pathways are under discussion. Organisations can be contacted separately to arrange appointments for patients at this stage.
  • To reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 for patients and staff it is imperative that there is a reduction in patient traffic throughout clinics, facilitating social distancing. This is all while continuing to provide good primary care for patients.
  • There are some important considerations that should be thought about before commencing CPR on a patient with presumed or confirmed COVID-19. This includes and assessment of the risks (to staff) and the benefit to the patient (and whether this is futile).
