Shaping the future of health and healthcare: leapfrogging with precision medicine
This guidance document offers a collection of case studies and set of questions to prompt deeper discussions about ethical tensions pertinent to the collection and use of genomic data. It is a companion to the Genomic Data Policy Framework and Ethical Tensions White Paper.
The document is intended for policy-makers, business leaders, researchers and others who seek to gain awareness of ethical tensions pertinent to genomic data and elucidate an ethical position that can be reflected through policy, regulations and guidelines regarding the collection and use of genomic data. While it is not entirely possible to predict how populations will react to future approaches to the collection and use of genomic data, it is both preventative of potential conflict and beneficial to societies to reflect their ethical values through mechanisms that govern these approaches.
