Description
As an independent statutory authority under the Environment Protection Act 2017, the EPA's regulatory role is to prevent and reduce harm from pollution and waste.
EPA Victoria’s Compliance and enforcement policy supports the overarching Regulatory strategy 2020-2025 and sets out their approach to applying Victoria’s new legislative framework to compliance and enforcement decisions. It also aims to provide clarity on how the EPA will exercise its regulatory powers.
This draft policy covers:
- EPA’s compliance and enforcement approaches for supporting and directing compliance
- EPA’s principles and criteria for decision-making, including the consideration of risk, and behaviour and motivations for compliance.
