Council-owned kindergartens and senior bitizens’ buildings in the Southern Grampians Shire were assessed for thermal efficiency, water supply reliability, water tightness and energy efficiency to ensure that the Shire’s most vulnerable groups are provided with climate-adapted facilities as the climate becomes generally hotter and drier but with more occasional heavy downpours.

Outcomes

• An understanding of what is needed to improve the Council facilities used by vulnerable age groups in the Southern Grampians Shire
• A plan for future implementation of the recommended actions
• An improved understanding of building quality within Council’s asset portfolio.
