First interim report: on-demand platform work in Australia | 1.84 MB |
Corrigendum to interim report tabled in June 2021 | 107.34 KB |
The Senate Select Committee on Job Security was appointed by resolution of the Senate on 10 December 2020. The committee was established to inquire into and report on the impact of insecure or precarious employment on the economy, wages, social cohesion and workplace rights and conditions.
The issues of insecure work are complex and multifaceted. While workers engaged in on-demand platform work may not be the largest cohort of Australian workers, they are one of the most disadvantaged, and the committee believes it is timely to examine the sector. As such, this first interim report focuses on gig work and gig workers.
