With the National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010–2022 soon coming to a close, development of the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022-2032 is well underway. The Department of Social Services, with the support of the Office for Women, has undertaken over 18 months of extensive consultation that has included:
- the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Social Policy and Legal Affairs Inquiry into family, domestic and sexual violence
- online public consultation surveys through the DSS Engage platform
- the National Summit on Women’s Safety
Targeted consultation was also facilitated by the Monash Gender and Family Violence Prevention Centre, including:
- targeted thematic and jurisdictional workshops
- one-on-one and small group interviews with key stakeholders and other subject matter experts
- a dedicated consultation with victim-survivor advocates
The Australian Department of Social Services has released this report. It highlights insights and views from people with lived experience of violence, and presents key findings by theme.
