Fact sheet
Description

The Australian Reconciliation Barometer is a national research study, undertaken every two years since 2008. It is the only survey in Australia that measures the progress of reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous Australians.

It measures attitudes towards reconciliation, using the five dimensions of reconciliation – race relations, equality and equity, unity, institutional integrity and historical acceptance – to inform data collection and analysis.

The 2024 Barometer data has been released as a series of snapshots. Together, the snapshots provide a point-in-time understanding of the attitudes and behaviours among different groups of people to paint a clear picture of Australia’s reconciliation journey.

These fact sheets collect the responses of three groups of people:

  • multicultural Australians
  • young Australians
  • First Nations peoples.
