From culture war to cultural democracy: it's your ABC


Many supporters of the ABC felt relieved when a hostile conservative government was replaced by a social democratic one which claims to be friendly. Since the election, some have called for Howard government appointees to resign from the board and for the ABC to be properly funded. The change of government, however, is no guarantee that money will pour into Aunty's coffers and a left-wing ABC Board will arise from the ashes of the culture wars. In this article Tony Moore provides a credible option for ending the terms of partisan appointments to the ABC board, and shows how we can rescue the public broadcasting debate from the culture wars.
