Alan Finkel: electric planet - seeing the possibilities of an electron economy over an oil economy

14 Mar 2014

Alan Finkel is an engineer, entrepreneur, philanthropist and Chancellor of Monash University.

Finkel’s pitch is a vision he calls ‘the electric planet,’ a plan for clean electricity and generating enough of it to replace fossil fuels. He’s an electric car man and for three years up until 2012 was involved in the provision of low-emissions electricity to operate such vehicles.

He is passionate about educating the next generation and leads a secondary school science program called STELR that is currently running in nearly 350 schools around Australia. He also established the Australian Course in Advanced Neuroscience to provide advanced training to early-career scientists.

Here he is speaking at the 2013 Creative Innovations conference in Melbourne.
