CUE is the quarterly magazine from Victoria University of Wellington's School of Government.
Welcome to CUE 7. This issue is dedicated to the theme of ‘Revitalising Democracy’ and highlights just a few of the ways in which the School of Government is endeavouring to shape the debate about creating a democratic context that is fit for purpose in an increasingly complex, globalised and anxious world.
In its recent cover story ‘What’s Going Wrong With Democracy?', the Economist grimly observed that “democracy is going through a difficult time”. As the articles in this issue attest, our School is committed to not only diagnosing the problem but to advancing implementable and sustainable solutions – through deliberative democracy, e-democracy or open government at both central and local government levels, within New Zealand and in the Asia Pacific region.
