Richard Brabin-Smith

Description

Richard Brabin-Smith AO is a visiting fellow at the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre of The Australian National University, where he follows his interests in Australian and regional security. Before this he spent some 30 years in the Australian Department of Defence in a wide variety of analytical, policy and corporate management positions. These included Chief Defence Scientist and Deputy Secretary Strategic Policy. In the mid-1980s, he worked with Paul Dibb to help with the drafting of the 1986 Review of Australia’s Defence Capabilities (the Dibb Review). In the mid-1990s, he was the Defence civilian member of the senior review panel of the Defence Efficiency Review (the McIntosh Review).
